Mildred Fay Gibson Waddell

Mildred “Millie” Gibson Waddell, of Hickory, passed away April 9, 2017 at Trinity Village. Born November 11, 1922 in Scott County, VA, she was the daughter of the late Leonard L. Gibson and Martha Janie Salyer Gibson. Millie retired from Shuford Mills where she worked as a braider and for many years, she was a member and enjoyed East Hickory Seniors Morning Out.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Eric Dean Patrick; sister, Murel Barett; and brothers, Fred Gibson, Everett Gibson and Jeff Gibson.

Millie is survived by her son, Wren Herschel Patrick of Twentynine Palms, CA; sisters, Connie Cope of Kingsport, TN and Thelma Brumett of Mt. Carmel, TN; brother, Carlos Gibson of Ohio; grandchildren, J.R. Patrick, John Patrick, James Patrick, Jack Patrick, Dawn Patrick, Joshua Patrick; numerous great-grandchildren; and special friends, Rita and Bobby Pritchard and Carolyn and Russell Price.

A visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until 12:45 p.m. on Thursday, April 13, 2017 at Drum Funeral Home in Hickory with a graveside service to follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Bishop Wade Danner will officiate.

The family would like to give a special thank you to her caregiver family at Trinity Village who gave her kind and compassionate care.
