Patricia Ann Hedrick, 91, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at Catawba Valley Assisted Living in Claremont. Born February 28, 1934, in Burke County, she was the daughter of the late McCoy Alfred Powell and Annie Mae Griffin Powell. Patricia was a loyal member of St. Stephens Lutheran Church (ELCA). She was retired from the Bank of Granite where she worked many years.
Patricia was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, Frank E. Hedrick. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Harry J. Powell and Francis Carroll Powell.
Patricia is survived by her daughters, Darlene Mitchell and husband Kavin and Lisa Bumgarner and husband Chris; grandchildren, Casey Bumgarner and wife Stacey, Reed Bumgarner and wife Amanda and Cody Mitchell and wife Kristi; great-grandchildren, Corbin, Kyleigh, Macy, Elise, Kindle and Knox; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family came first for Patricia. She devoted her life to her husband, daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Patricia’s greatest joy in life was being a grandmother to her three grandsons. She enjoyed so many precious moments watching them grow and become fine young men and start their families. Pat and Frank loved taking them camping, hiking, and golfing and watching them play sports.
Pat spent many years as a Girl Scout Leader in Catawba County. She planned and presided over Girl Scout Day camp multiple times.
During their retirement, Pat and Frank enjoyed traveling, and belonged to a Western Square Dance Club which took them to many conventions in different destinations. They also loved camping and taking their daughters and their families with them to the beach. Pat took up golf after she retired, and she and Frank spent many days playing golf with Frank’s brother Joe and his wife Pat.
Pat Hedrick was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and mother-in-law. Her family was truly blessed to have her in their lives and enjoy the good times with her. Thank goodness there are so many wonderful memories and stories they will be able to share for the rest of their lives and pass on to the next generation. Pat’s love and generosity for her family will comfort them and give them peace forever.
