

Paul was born February 9, 1931 in Caldwell Co. to the late Paul Nelson and Pearlee Keller Duffey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his, brother, Melvin N. Duffey, and two nephews, Jeffrey A. Duffey and Mark W. Duffey.
Paul attended Hickory Community Chapel, a graduate of Granite Falls High School (1949) and a graduate of Clevenger Business College with an accounting degree, retired from Pepsi Cola Bottling Company and most recently employed with Thomasville Furniture. He was an Army veteran (Sgt. By rank) stationed in Germany during the Korean War. He was a talented musician and artist and known as PawPaw by most everyone.
Surviving are his son, Paul W. Duffey, Jr. and wife, Bonnie, a daughter, Kimberley D. Starnes and husband, Sammy L. Starnes, his beloved grandchildren, Aaron A. Duffey, Brandi B. Duffey, Heather S. Prestwood and husband, Adam, Alex C. Starnes, and Kelly L. McDevitt and his most beloved great-grandchildren, Grace R. Duffey, Caleb C. Duffey and Addison B. Prestwood. Also surviving are his former wife and friend, Anne H. Duffey, brothers, Junior T. Duffey and wife, Betty, Otis F. Duffey and wife, Norma, John W. Duffey and wife, Doris, Rick D. Duffey, Michael A. Duffey and wife, Darlene. His beloved sisters, Naomi D. Burns and husband, Clarence, Nancy D. Story and husband, Jack, a sister-in-law, Jeanette C. Duffey and a number of nephews, nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces. Also, included in his loved ones are two very special neighbors and friends, Cindy Speagle and Lisa Cole.
A private graveside service for the family will take place at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens on Thursday.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Mr. Duffey will be held Saturday, August 25, at Harvest Bible Chapel, Hickory at 3:30 P. M. with Pastor Mark Schmitz officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service at 2:00 P. M.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that any donations be made to Palliative CareCenter & Hospice of Catawba Valley, 3975 Robinson Rd., Newton, N. C. 28658.
