Pauline S. Bradshaw

Pauline (Polly) Speagle Bradshaw, formerly of Hickory, passed away at the Regional Hospice Home in Spartanburg, SC on Monday, April 23, 2012. Born in Burke County on October 20, 1922, she was the daughter of the late James and Phoebe Downs Speagle.

Mrs. Bradshaw is survived by her daughter, Kay Bradshaw Bracey and husband William Bracey; two grandsons, Nathan J. Bracey and wife Nicole and Phillip W. Bracey all of Spartanburg, SC; four sisters, Mrs. Ruth Lutz of Hickory, Mrs. George (Peggy) Fox of Conover, Mrs. Betty Harvey of Salisbury and Mrs. Dorothy Denniston of Anderson, ID; one brother and sister-in-law, Thomas Ralph and Gail Speagle of Clear Water, FL; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews; and her special friends, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Hall of Chesnee, SC.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years Billy A. Bradshaw and two sisters, Mrs. Frances Herman and Mrs. Irene Whisnant, three brothers-in-law, Clarence Lutz, Quentine Whisnant and J. L. Harvey.

Mrs. Bradshaw was a retired school teacher who worked in the Catawba, Hickory and Burke County School systems. She was a member of First Church of God in Hickory, NC where she taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible School.

The funeral service will be held at First Church of God of Hickory, Saturday, April 28, 2012 at 2:00 PM with Dr. Michael Hone officiating. The body will be placed in the church thirty minutes prior to the service. Interment will follow at Catawba Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Friday from 6:30 -8:00 PM at Hickory Funeral Home..
