Born in Catawba County on March 12, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Elijah James and Elizabeth Christmas Bass.
She is survived by her daughters Debra Eckard of Taylorsville, and Donna Austin and husband Bobby of Hickory; sons Roger Cornett and wife Janice of Conover, Bobby Cornett of Conover, and Marc Eckard of Conover; 15 grandchildren; 40 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren; sisters Carolyn McGee of South Carolina, and Bobbie Wilkerson of Arizona.
Her husband Ellis Eckard, her daughter Elona McCaslin, four sisters, and two brothers preceded her in death.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 31, 2023 from 12:30 pm to 1:45 pm at Hickory Funeral Home.
The funeral will be Thursday, August 31, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Hickory Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Darrell Williams officiating.
Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
