"Pete" Robert Leland McKinney

Pete was born April 4, 1928 in Spruce Pine, NC. to the late Tom McKinney and Julie Edge McKinney.

He was a member of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, Conover, he owned and retired from McKinney Sanding Belt and was an avid Fisherman.

Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Joyce Travis McKinney of Home; daughter, Tonya Sheehan and husband, Danny, of Myrtle Beach, SC; son, Robert Steve McKinney of Hickory; grandsons, Chad McKinney and wife Annette of Hickory , Tyler McKinney and wife Casey of Claremont; granddaughters, Natasha McCarson and husband Marc of Lexington, SC, Rosalyn Frans and husband Bart of Wilmington, Kylee Whittington and husband Brian of Myrtle Beach, SC; sisters, Shirley Young and Grace Buchanan of Spruce Pine, NC., and Jeannie McKinney of Little Switzerland; along with 6 Great Grandchildren.

Pete was preceded in death by three Brothers and four Sisters.

Services will be Monday, January 26, 2015 at 2p.m. at Mt. Zion Lutheran Church with Rev. Scott Bollinger officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Monday January 26, 2015 from 12:45p.m.until 1:45p.m in the church fellowship hall.
