Born in Mitchell County on December 15, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Ted and Ruth Estelle Hughes Miller.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 4 sisters and 2 brothers.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years Kendrick Robert Starnes of the home; her daughters Kimberly Sencindiver of Kearneysville, WV, and Paula McEwen and husband Steve of Elizabethton, TN; her son Dwayne Kendrick Starnes and wife Sherry of Battle Ground, WA; grandchildren Tim Sencindiver, Matthew Sencindiver, Brandon Sosa, Caleb Jones (Hannah Trivett), Heather Jones (Ben), Hannah Mendez (Josue), and Hailey Starnes (Carysn Lundeen); great grandchildren Kendrick Lundeen, Brentlee Jones, Maisey Lundeen, Bennett Jones and; sisters Carolyn Howell of Jonesborough, TN and Ava Jean Honeycutt of Burnsville, NC and a brother James Miller and wife Delores of Bakersville, NC.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, July 1, 2025 from 12:30 pm to 1:45 pm at Hickory Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm in the Hickory Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Robert Hilton officiating.
Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park .
