

RICHARD ANTHONY COSTA HICKORY – Richard Anthony Costa, 69, of Hickory went home to be with his Lord and Savior on June 15, 2014 after enjoying a Father’s Day breakfast with his family. Born on December 8, 1944 in Manhattan, NY, he was the son of the late Americo and Lucy Costa. Richard was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War. Richard retired from SAFT America after 37 years. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Hickory. Richard was an avid outdoorsman; he enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and traveling. He shared these passions by frequently involving his grandchildren in his activities. Survivors include his loving wife of 35 years, Rebeca Costa of Hickory; children, Donna Costa and her husband, Ed of Connecticut, Debra Costa Ahern and husband, Tim of NY, step-son, John Denzer and his wife, Xiomara of FL, five grandchildren, Timothy and Julia Ahern; Erik, Evan, Elise Denzer and their mother, Ann Denzer who was like a daughter; siblings, Robert Costa, Joy Costa, Roy Costa, Diane Costa and their spouses; as well as a niece and several nephews. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2014 at 12 PM at First Presbyterian Church of Hickory with Pastor Lynn Weber officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Wounded Warriors Project, P.O. Box 758517 Topeka, Kansas 66675.
