Robert Carlton “Cotton” Lyalls, 67, of Hickory, NC, passed away October 9, 2022, at Duke University Hospital in Durham, NC. Born November 6, 1954 in Catawba County, he was the son of Betty Jean Lail Lyalls and the late, Jack Manley Lyalls.
A member of Woodlawn Baptist Church, he previously worked with the Catawba County Schools and retired from Corning. A gentle giant, he was an avid Green Bay Packer fan and was involved with the Optimist Club, coaching and calling games. He loved animals and Doc was his fur baby companion who accompanied him everywhere. He lost his dog, Leia, the same day that he passed.
In addition to his mother, Cotton is survived by his life partner, Vonna Johnson; son, Robert Carlton Lyalls, II, (Janet Harter); brother, Randy Lyalls; and sisters, Vickie Deal (Ashley), Sharon Wilson, and Crystal Spencer.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Friday, October 14, 2022 in the Chapel of Drum Funeral Home in Hickory. Funeral services will be private.
