MAIDEN - Ronald Dean Granger 81, of Maiden, passed away on February 11, 2021.
Born on June 17, 1939, in Marion, to the late Bill and Georgia Granger. Ron lived a long, happy and full life. He enjoyed reading and was a history buff, especially on the American Civil War. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, and later worked many years selling cars. Ron and his wife, Tanya owned & operated Balls Creek Bait & Tackle together for over 10 years as well. He loved traveling, and was able to journey all over the U.S. as well as take a trip to Europe with his son, Lee in 2018.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Tanya; sister, Toyce; and brother, Billy.
Ron is survived by his children of his first marriage to Ruth Spencer Jones; children are Jeff Granger and wife Aida, Lori Granger, Andy Granger and wife Melissa. Ron is survived by children of his second marriage to Tanya Sigmon Granger; children are Lee Granger, Tara Granger and husband Chris Forbes; step-daughter, Kim Miller and husband, Rob; grandchildren, Cathy, Bryan, Kennedy, Augustus; four great-grandchildren; surviving siblings are Jimmy Granger, Linda Barto; a close loving niece, Janis Granger, numerous other nieces, nephews, and friends.
Ron loved to laugh and had a wonderful sense of humor his entire life. Ron’s wishes were to play Jerry Lee Lewis (no sad music!). He joked that he wanted “I tried to tell you I was sick!” written on his gravestone.
A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held on Monday, February 15, 2021 at 3 PM at Catawba Funeral Home.
