

CLAREMONT—Ruby Vickers Hill, 82, passed away November 1, 2013 at Hospice of Catawba after a brief illness. Ruby was born December 20, 1930 in Catawba County to the late John Gordon Vickers and Grace Hilda Ayers Vickers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Harold Thomas Drum, 2nd husband, Howard Edward Hill, brother, Glenn Vickers, sisters, Dorothy Sweezy, and Mary Turbyfill, Daughters-in-law, Linda Drum and Regina Drum. She was a member of New Jerusalem Lutheran Church and was retired from the hosiery industry. Ruby was a member of Hickory Lions Club; Catawba County Association for The Blind.Surviving are her daughters; Brenda Boliek of Conover, Carolyn (Grady) Thomas of Hickory, Marie (Ronald) Hefner of Newton; sons, Larry Drum of Catawba, Gary Drum of Hickory, Mike Hill of Hickory. Eight grand- children and nine great-grandchildren. Celebration of life will be Monday, November 4, 2013, at 4:00 P. M. at New Jerusalem Lutheran Church with Pastor Randall Cauble officiating.
