Ruth (Young) Proctor

Ruth Young Proctor, born December 31, 1935, of Hickory, NC transitioned to her heavenly home on August 11, 2025. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Jackson Proctor and siblings: Katie Johnston, Mary Matthews, John Greenhill, Glen Greenhill, Lee J Greenhill, and Leonard Greenhill.

She is survived by her children, Donna Staton (Michael), Jack Proctor (Julie), Beth Mills (Mark); grandchildren, Steven Staton (Samantha), Leah Niglio (Gianni), Erik Ware, Joshua Proctor (Alexa), and Jaclyn Proctor: and seven great grandchildren.

Ruth’s greatest joy was sharing Jesus through her tract ministry, encouraging others with cards, and volunteering with hospice. She served her Lord at Wilkies Grove Baptist Church, as a witness team member, a former Sunday School teacher, church clerk, and secretary. Her career was in executive administration and real estate sales. Ruth enjoyed painting, photography, beekeeping, gardening, and writing.

The celebration of life service will be held Saturday, August 16 at Wilkies Grove Baptist Church, Hickory, NC. The family will receive friends 12-12:45 pm with a service at 1:00 pm. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
