Ruth Barger Starnes

Ruth was born September 20, 1921 in Catawba County to the late Ellis Lafayette and Mary Agnes Townsend Barger. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Zell Hubert Starnes, her son; Eddy Starnes, sisters: Beulah Cline, Lois Simmons and Helen Propst, brothers; John Barger and Ralph Barger.

She was a life long member of St. Stephens Lutheran Ch, ELCA and retired from Catawba Paper Box.

Surviving are a son; Terry Hubert Starnes and wife, Joann of Vale, granddaughters: Tina Starnes Heffner and husband, Dennis of Vale and Vicky Starnes Zannato and husband, Jeremy of Hickory, grandsons; Clay Hubert Starnes and wife, Denise of Vale and Brent Starnes of Hickory, great granddaughters; Miranda and Rachel Starnes of Vale, great grandsons; Zachary Heffner and wife, Heather of Cherryville, Benjamin, Justin and Noah Heffner all of Vale, Ethan and Nathan Starnes of Hickory and Trent Zannato of Hickory, daughter-in-law; Geraldine Starnes of Hickory, sisters; Mary Bolick of Bethlehem, Margaret Hefner of Hickory and Edith Icard and husband, Kenneth of Hickory, brothers; Claude Barger and wife, Lucille and George Barger and wife, Peggy both of Hickory and a number of nieces and nephews.

Services will be Thursday, August 4, at 3:00 PM at St. Stephens Lutheran Church, ELCA with Reverend Richard Hites officiating.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 1:45 until 2:45 PM at the church.
