Hickory – Shelby Jean Toney Bunch, 86 of Hickory, NC went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 4th, 2025, at her residence surrounded by her loved ones.
Born on November 9th, 1938, in Burke County, NC, Shelby was the daughter of the late Willie and Virgie Martin Toney. Shelby was a strong, independent and determined woman. Her compassion and vulnerability were her gifts to her children. She was a devout Christian. She was loved by her family and will be dearly missed.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her long-time companion, William Lee Reynolds; her brothers, Rondal Toney and Dean Toney and her sister, Paulette Miller.
Those left to cherish her memory include her 5 sons, Charles, Steve, Chris, Kevin and Keith, as well as numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be at Catawba Funeral Home on Saturday, December 6th, 2025 at 11:00 am.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:30 am to 11:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Carolina Caring of Newton in Shelby’s name.
