Thelma Ann Hare Hunt, lovingly known to her family as Ann, was born on June 25, 1940, and peacefully entered eternal rest at her home on January 1, 2026. Surrounded by love, she transitioned from this world into Heaven, where she is now joyfully reunited with her beloved husband, Cletis Lamar Hunt, the love of her life and partner of more than 60 beautiful years.
Ann was preceded in death by her mother, Clara Hare Wallace; her father, Albert Wallace; and her devoted husband, Lamar Hunt. Their reunion brings comfort to all who loved her, knowing she is whole, at peace, and embraced by those she missed so deeply.
She leaves behind a legacy of love through her children: Kevin Hunt (Tricia Hunt), Kelly Hunt, Krista Hunt (Wayne McCorkle), and her daughter/granddaughter India Richards (Collin Richards). Ann’s heart extended generously to all she claimed as her own—never bound by titles, only by love.
She is also survived by her cherished siblings: Judy Medlin (Fred Medlin), Vicky Younce (Allen Younce), and Dan Wallace (Denise Wallace). Family meant everything to Ann, and those bonds were lifelong and unbreakable.
Ann was a proud and loving grandmother to Morgan Brown, Asia Canales (Alex Canales), and Zachary Hunt, and a devoted great-grandmother to Khamari McAuley, Jayden Richards, Kennedy Richards, and Olivia Brown, each of whom brought her immense joy.
She also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly and treated as her own.
Ann was extraordinary in the most humble ways. She was an amazing baker whose kitchen was always filled with warmth, comfort, and something sweet made with love. She was a gifted knitter, creating not just blankets and keepsakes, but memories woven with care and patience. She poured love into everyone she encountered—through her hands, her home, her quiet strength, and her unwavering devotion to family.
She was a grandmother, a mother, a sister, an aunt, a friend, and a wife—but more than anything, she was home. Strong, nurturing, and deeply loving, Ann gave selflessly and loved unconditionally. Her presence made people feel safe, welcomed, and deeply cared for.
Though our hearts ache in her absence, we find peace knowing she is resting in Heaven—free from pain, surrounded by peace, and reunited with her sweetheart once again. Her legacy lives on in every life she touched, every recipe passed down, every stitch sewn, and every memory held close.
She will forever be missed, always remembered, and endlessly loved.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Hickory Funeral Home. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 3:00 until 3:45 p.m. at the funeral home.
