He was born in Catawba County on February 26, 1935, to the late Tom Martin and Charlotte Newton Burgess.
In addition to his parents his wife of 65 years Priscilla Hedrick Martin; two brothers Larry Martin and Douglas Martin preceded him in death.
Tony was a member of Highland Baptist Church; he worked for the City of Hickory Police Department, and was one of the first motorcycle police officers. He then went on to truck driving, until his retirement.
His daughter Janie Church and her husband Norman of Statesville; sons Darrell Martin and his wife Kathy of Conover, and Rusty Martin; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and a sister Wanda survive him.
Memorial service will be held Friday, June 23, 2023 at 11:00 am at Highland Baptist Church with Reverend Mack Mathis, Dr. Jeff Myers and Reverend Kenny Robison officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
