Vannie Ellar Ball

GRANITE FALLS – Vannie Ellar Ball, 89 of Granite Falls went home to be with her Lord on October 20, 2023.

Vannie was born on October 14, 1934 in Swain County, to the late Robert and Sarah Huffman Ball. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister and friend to all who knew her. Vannie loved her family more than anything else. She was strong in her Baptist faith. Vannie retired from Century Furniture after many years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by, sisters, Viola and Opal and great-grandson, Thomas Williams.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Teresa Hill, Sheila Herron, Margie Palmer, Jane Overbay, Scott Tapp, Richard Ashe; grandchildren, Rachel Williams, Mason Herron, Stephen Sheets, Tucker Herron, Randy Smith, Sonya Toney, Jarred Standfield, Heather Overbay; 8 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and numerous other family members.

A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, October 27, 2023 at 12 PM at Catawba Memorial Park with Pastor Sam Craven officiating. Entombment will follow.
