Verona “Betty” Blevins, 96, of Hickory passed away on September 14, 2014 at Trinity Ridge in Hickory. Born February 1, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Svetlecih and Paulina Gergurich Svetlecih. She was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Hickory.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; daughter, Jackie Wahle; sisters, Rose Duncan, Mary Gruber, Frances Siranko and Josephine Svetlecih; brothers, Joe Svetlecih, John Svetlecih and Carl Svetlecih.
Survivors include daughters, Mary Dawson of Hickory, Delores Sweezy and husband Bruce of Hickory, and Pauline Bostain and Richard Levesque of Hickory; grandchildren, David Dawson, Felecia Killian, Jackie Taylor, Joan Allmendinger, Mark Detter and Nickki Simmons; and seven great grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church with Father Larry LoMonaco officiating. A private inurnment will be held at the church.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 am prior to the Mass.
