It is with heavy hearts and profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Alex Josue Banegas Figueroa, a beloved father, son, brother, and friend. Alex, born on July 17, 1988, in Aguanqueterique, Honduras, left this world on March 1, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.
Alex was the devoted father of Sophia Victoria Banegas, whose life he enriched with his unwavering love and support. The son of Eucebio and Elida Banegas, Alex was a loving and supportive son, always there for his family in times of joy and sorrow. His presence was the glue that held the Banegas family together.
As a cherished brother and friend to Eduin Banegas and Rony Figueroa, Alex's warmth and kindness created bonds that will endure beyond his time with us. He approached every relationship with a genuine heart, making him a great friend to many. Alex's ability to get along with everyone, coupled with his infectious laughter, made him a beacon of joy in the lives of those fortunate enough to know him.
Alex had a passion for soccer, both as a player and an avid spectator. Whether on the field or in front of the TV, his love for the sport brought people together, creating lasting memories. In addition to his love for soccer, Alex enjoyed playing cards, showcasing his competitive spirit and love for friendly competition.
A diligent and hardworking individual, Alex was admired for his dedication to providing for his family. His commitment to his responsibilities was evident in everything he did, earning him the respect and admiration of colleagues and friends alike.
Beyond his work and leisure, Alex found solace in the care of horses. His love for these majestic animals reflected his gentle and nurturing nature, revealing a side of him that was truly compassionate and connected to the beauty of the natural world.
Visitation to celebrate Alex's life will be held on Thursday, March 7, 2024, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Vernon C. Wagner Funeral Homes, located at 125 W. Old Country Road, Hicksville, New York 11801. Friends, family, and acquaintances are invited to share their memories and support one another during this difficult time.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, March 8, 2024, at 11:00 am at St. Killians Parish, 485 Conklin St, Farmingdale, NY 11735. Interment will take place at a later date in Honduras, the land she held dear in her heart. The family will gather to bid their final farewells in the land that held significant meaning for him.
Alex Josue Banegas will be remembered not only for his love of family, friends, soccer, and horses but also for the profound impact he had on the lives of those around him. His departure leaves an irreplaceable void, but the memories of his love, laughter, and kindness will forever live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to share in his journey through life.
