

Catherine was a beloved mother to Donna (Thomas) Nigro and Gail (Frederik) van Koot. She was a loving grandmother to five grandchildren, a cherished great-grandmother to twelve, and an adored great-great-grandmother to six.
Throughout her life, Catherine was known for her incredible talent in crafting. She could transform any material into something beautiful. Her home was filled with the fruits of her talent, from intricate Christmas ornaments to handmade decorations that captured the warmth and joy of the holidays. Catherine spent countless hours creating personalized gifts for friends and family, always putting her heart into every piece. She had a gift for floral arrangements, which she honed while working at a florist. Catherine also had a passion for sewing, and she lovingly made her daughters’ clothing while they were growing up. An exceptional cook, she was especially renowned for her delicious Italian meals that became a family tradition.
Above all, Catherine’s love for her family was immeasurable. She treasured every moment spent with them and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
A visitation will be held on Monday, March 17, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Vernon C. Wagner Funeral Home, 125 W. Old Country Road, Hicksville, NY 11801. A Funeral Mass will take place on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, from 11:15 AM at Holy Family RC Church, 17 Fordham Avenue, Hicksville, NY 11801.
