

Elizabeth W. Engle, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on April 8th, 2024, at the age of 102. Born on June 14th in New York, New York to William and Elizabeth Zeng, Elizabeth lived a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.
Elizabeth was the loving wife of the late Philip Dean Engle, whose memory she cherished deeply. Together, they shared a bond built on mutual respect, companionship, and enduring love. Philip's memory remained a guiding light throughout Elizabeth's life, and their love story was a source of inspiration to all who knew them.
Elizabeth was the beloved mother of Elizabeth D. Engle (Jay Geyer), Nancy Lynch (Thomas Lynch), and the late Philip W. Engle. She was a source of unwavering love and support for her family, and her presence will be deeply missed.
As a grandmother and great-grandmother, Elizabeth held a special place in the hearts of her descendants. She took immense joy in spending time with them, especially through modern technology, utilizing her iPad to FaceTime and stay connected with her loved ones.
Elizabeth had a passion for life and many interests. She enjoyed playing bridge, a hobby that brought her much joy and camaraderie. Her love for animals, especially cats, was evident throughout her life. She found solace and companionship in the company of her furry friends.
Throughout her life, Elizabeth held a deep sense of pride in her family's military service. She admired her husband Philip's dedication and service in the United States Army Air Corps, as well as her nephew's commitment to the United States Army.
In her younger years, Elizabeth cherished the memories of boating with her father and exploring new destinations. She was an avid traveler, with a particular fondness for Europe, especially France, England, and Belgium. Her adventurous spirit and love for new experiences enriched her life and left a lasting impression on those around her.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during the visitation on April 16th, 2024, from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm at Vernon C. Wagner Funeral Homes, located at 125 W. Old Country Road, Hicksville, New York 11801. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, April 17th, 2024, at 10:00 am at St. Paul the Apostle Church in Glen Head, New York, followed by Interment at St. Charles Cemetery.
