

Known as Peggy to all her friends and family, is survived by her three children Michael (Joan) Cain, Judith (John) Anderson, Catherine ( Joseph) McCue, her six grandchildren Laura ( John) Harper, John Anderson, William Anderson, Connor McCue, Ryan ( Angela) McCue and Bailey McCue, and a great grandson, John Michael Harper and a grandson (on the way) Wyatt Kelly McCue. She has numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. She was preceded in death by her grandson Sean James McCue and her beloved husband William J. Cain.
Peggy was born on March 28, 1933 in her home on Court St. in Brooklyn, NY., the third child of Thomas and Catherine (nee Schmidt) O'Connor. She met her future husband around 1949, through writing letters to her friend/coworker's brother who was serving overseas. They continued writing the letters until he returned home, when William ( Bill) Cain and Peggy met in person. They continued to "court", and were married out of St. Mary's Star of the Sea Church in Brooklyn, NY. in November of 1953. They raised their three children in Brooklyn, Queens, then moved to Hicksville in Jan of 1964.
Peggy was a receptionist for Curtains & Home before her retirement. Peggy's faith in God never wavered, she was passionate about donating to St. Jude Children's hospital ( St. Jude was her favorite saint), was an avid reader and loved to crochet. She loved spending time with her family and friends. Her laughter and love will continue to be remembered by all who knew her.
A visitation for Margaret will be held Friday, December 22, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. A visitation will occur Friday, December 22, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Vernon C. Wagner Funeral Homes, 125 Old Country Rd, Hicksville, New York 11801. A funeral mass will occur Saturday, December 23, 2023 at 10:30 AM at Holy Family RC Church, 17 Fordham Ave, Hicksville, New York 11801. A committal service will occur Saturday, December 23, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM at Pinelawn Memorial Park and Garden Mausoleums, 2030 Wellwood Ave, Farmingdale, New York 11739.
