Martha V. Hand

Born on July 15, 1927, in New York, Martha was the daughter of Robert and Veronica Becker.

She was the cherished and devoted wife of the late Raymond G. Hand, Sr., with whom she shared 55 wonderful years of marriage. Martha was a loving mother to Michael (Annmarie), Ronnie Turner, Dorothy (Dot) Hand, Patrick, and the late Dennis Hand and Raymond G. Hand, Jr. Her legacy lives on through her 11 adoring grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren, who lovingly called her “Grandma” and “Grandma the Great.” Martha’s love extended beyond her immediate family. As an Au Pair, she had a special bond with the children she cared for, affectionately referred to as “Nanny” by those she tended to with warmth and devotion. She deeply impacted the lives of all those she touched with her kindness, nurturing spirit, and unwavering love.

A devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Plainview Ward, Martha found peace and purpose in her faith and in being surrounded by her family. Her love for her family and her joy in spending time with them were at the core of her life, and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Visitation will be held for family and friends on Sunday, February 2, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Vernon C. Wagner Funeral Homes, 125 W. Old Country Road, Hicksville, NY. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, February 3, 2025 10 am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints,160 Washington Avenue, Plainview NY. Interment will follow at Calverton National Cemetery, Calverton, NY, where she will be laid to rest alongside her beloved husband, Raymond.

Martha’s memory will forever be cherished by her family and friends, and though she will be sorely missed, we take comfort in knowing she is reunited with her loved ones in Heaven.
