March 7, 1958 – July 3, 2025
Michael C. Rahamut was a devoted husband, beloved father, and a cherished friend to many. Born in Trinidad, Michael brought with him a lifelong love of adventure, music, and culture. He had a deep appreciation for Calypso, Soca, and Reggae, and found joy in both the rhythm of island life and the hum of a finely tuned engine.
Michael was a true car enthusiast, especially drawn to vintage American muscle cars — none more beloved than his 1974 Mercury Capri, 1966 Dodge Charger, and 1992 Nissan Skyline GTS R32. He was always working on a project, often with a smile and a wrench in hand. He enjoyed the outdoors, never shying away from a challenge or risk, and lived fully, with a quiet strength and kind heart.
Michael had a deep love for animals of all kinds, from dogs and cats to parrots and monkeys. He had an uncanny ability to calm even the most anxious creature, treating each life with gentleness and respect. He also loved working with his hands, whether restoring cars, solving technical problems, or building systems that served a greater good.
His professional legacy is one of integrity and impact. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1976 to 1982, a time that shaped his lifelong values of discipline, loyalty, and service. For nearly four decades, Michael proudly worked at PURVIS Systems as a Senior Technical Subject Matter Expert, helping to build, support, and modernize the emergency communication systems used by the FDNY. His work touched all five boroughs of New York City, and his dedication helped protect countless lives. He was not only a brilliant technician and problem-solver but also a mentor, teammate, and silent hero behind the scenes.
Though an only child, Michael found deep familial bonds with his cousins — Patrina, Alan, Kevin, Ricardo, and Lauriana — who were his siblings in every way that mattered. Above all, he was a family man. He is survived by his beloved wife, Shalama, and his daughters, Megan and Kristin, who carry forward his strength, compassion, and resilience.
Michael worked hard for everything he had, yet always made time to help others. He led by example — showing how to live generously, work humbly, and love deeply. His legacy is one of service, wisdom, and quiet heroism. He leaves behind a world made better by his hands, his heart, and his enduring presence.
