May I please extend my deepest condolences over the great loss of Bob.  He was a recipient of the Roman Catholic version of the congregational medal of honor and purple heart. A super husband, father, grandfather and cousin.  Bob was such a brave soldier as he conquered the numerous health challenges he faced.

Upon receiving the tragic news of this loss, it hit me so strongly emotionally as not only did I lose a great cousin but a super friend.

Please understand I am here for you all anytime day or night.

Cousin & friend, Bob & I shared a life-time of memories.

As I reflected during the past days mingled with tears & laughter, my first remembrance of Bob dates back to his Baptism in the Chapel of St. Vincent's Hospital when my parents, Mary & Arthur Donohue were his God parents. There are few people alive who can top that one, but I was the big cousin.

The years rolled on & there were many fun times in Hollis & Flushing with the Wagner boys. Our lives & careers took us in many directions, but we were always" in touch" through the updates from our dear Mothers, Rosemary & Mary.

We have shared many happy days, weddings, birthdays, anniversaries,special occasions & of course days of sadness  when we gathered together to say, "Good bye "to dear family members.

Bob was "A man for others" in the true spirit of St. Ignatius as a husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, friend & cousin.

I will miss you dearly Bob,but will treasure the memory of the years we shared.

Sending our condolences to the Wagner family.  Mark and I totally enjoyed looking at the wonderful pictures of Bob's life.  We will never forget the conversations with Bob in which we talked about the McQuaid Jesuit / Fordham  connections and the people associated with those institutions or affiliations.

Great neighbor for nearly 50 years. Wonderful family man, father and husband. He wiil be missed by all.  So sorry not to be with you but know you are all in our thoughts and hearts.

"Do not ask for whom the bell tolls, it tolls for thee." The world lost a most loving spirit and truly good man. We have all been blessed to know him. While the phone book may be filled with Wagner's- there was only one Waggo! Godspeed my friend!

As a friend of son, Christopher, Amy, and family (Rochester), I only had the opportunity to meet Robert and Elizabeth once. What I do remember is how warm, welcoming, and loving they were. They made us feel totally comfortable in their home.

As they say, " The offspring don't fall far from the tree". What a wonderful blessing to have such a wonderful man as father and husband and brother like Robert. He will always be there with you in spirit. Our deepest condolences to the entire Wagner Family!!!

Bob and I both started teaching at Fordham Prep in 1960. He was an excellent teacher and an outstanding gentleman. We became good friends. I will offer a Mass for him and his family.

I started with Mr. Wagner in 1960. He was my English and Home Room teacher. He made my beginning at the Prep a lot easier for me. He was always a great example for us who were just entering manhood. I can close my eyes and see him so clearly. I was a kid and he was a young man in 1960. I have 6 children and I know that Mr. Wagner helped shape me to be a good father. Thank you.

I remember Bob Wagner as my English teacher when I was a freshman at Fordham Prep in 1960.  He was a gentleman in the best sense of the word.  He taught his subject with obvious interest.  I remember to this day that I read my first Shakespeare play, The Merchant of Venice, under his tutelage.  Somehow my first image of Portia still bears the stamp of Bob's teaching.  May he rest in peace.

Offering our deepest condolences during this difficult time.

Bob started his teaching career at Fordham Prep in 1960 when a bunch of us entered the school as freshmen. He was our first-year English and homeroom teacher. He was a class act in all ways. He knew his subject well, presented it clearly, kept our interest and made class informative and enjoyable. He treated everyone with an even hand and was highly regarded by all. He encouraged me to "Keep writing, Hemingway"--which was precisely how he signed my yearbook in senior year. He provided an excellent example of how to be a man of faith and a true gentleman. The Prep was fortunate to have him on its staff for as long as it did. I know he was a positive influence on so many.  Please accept my deepest condolences on the passing of a very fine man.

We were so sad to hear about Bob.  He was truly a man for others and the lives he touched in his "vocation" and the love he shared for friends and family was in keeping with the man he was and lived-authentic and always present.  He had a special  shine when he spoke about his best friend and love of his life, his wife, and his kids and grandkids.  He will be missed.  It was an honor to know a man of such integrity.
