Rosalia Kennedy, a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away on April 21, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was 79 years old.
A resident of Levittown, NY, Rose was born in beautiful Palermo, Italy to her beloved parents, Vincenza and Calogero Tramuto. Palermo always held a special place in her heart—its warmth, beauty, and spirit never left her, and she often dreamed of returning for one more visit.
Rose was the cherished wife of the late Edward Kennedy III, and now, in a tender reunion, they are together once again. She was the loving and proud mother of Edward Kennedy IV (Janeth), Dina DeRoia (David), and Carl Kennedy (Christina), and the adored grandmother of Brian, Logan, Dylan, Connor, and Emma—each of whom brought her endless joy and pride.
She was the beloved sister of Frances Conigliaro (Patrick), Mary Gatt, and John Tramuto (Stephanie), and was treasured by all who knew her for her quiet strength, gentle humor, and unwavering love for her family.
Rose had a gift for making a house a home. Her warmth could be felt in every lovingly sewn stitch and every dish she prepared—none more famous than her rice balls, which remain a favorite among her children and grandchildren. Though she shied away from the camera, her love and presence are forever imprinted in the hearts of those who knew her best.
A talented seamstress in her earlier years, Rose had an eye for beauty and detail, and her creations were a reflection of the care she poured into everything she did. She lived a life of quiet grace and devotion, never asking for much but always giving more than enough.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate her life at Vernon C. Wagner Funeral Homes, 125 W. Old Country Road, Hicksville, NY, on Wednesday from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday at 10 AM at Holy Family Church in Hicksville, with interment to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Bronx, NY.
Rose will be deeply missed, but her love, lessons, and legacy will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
