

Betty was born in Chadburn, May 14, 1936, a daughter of the late Rufus Vonnie King and Ruby Blanton King. She was the oldest of sixteen children and was a member of Bright Light Freewill Baptist Church in Thomasville. Betty worked at Adams Millis for many years and retired from Lampcrafters in Lexington. She was the heart and soul of her family. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Ashley and five siblings.
Surviving are five daughters, Laura Farlow and husband Fred, Patsy Foley of the home, Shelby Foley, Lynn Tate and Tammy Morgan; three sons, Wayne Foley and wife Tammie, Earl Foley and wife Cheryl and Rev. Fredrick Ashley and wife Carolyn; ten grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren; step-daughter, Helen Owens; one sister, Diane Hartline; nine brothers, Rev. Henry King, Albert, George, Danny Ray, Doug, Ronnie, Roger, Chris, and Ricky King.
A Celebration of Betty’s life will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Bright Light Freewill Baptist Church by the Rev. Henry King. Burial will follow in Floral Garden Park Cemetery.
