Mr. Burnerd Bickett Moring

Burnerd Bickett Moring, 94, died peacefully at Pennybyrn on December 5, 2011 after several years of declining health. Born January 4, 1917, Mr. Moring was a native of Durham, NC, but moved to High Point as a young boy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Alonzo and Mattie Mae Coffey Moring. Burnerd was a veteran of WWII, proudly serving his country as a staff sergeant in the US Army with the 101st Airborne division from 1942 to 1945. He distinguished himself by meritorious service in connection with the Normandy campaign, the Airborne assault on Holland and the defence of Bastogne, Belgium. He also participated in the battle of Ardennes Salient and west Germany. He was honorably discharged and awarded many decorations and citations. After the war, Burnerd returned to High Point and became owner/operator of Horne Red Dot Superette. There he worked and served his customers faithfully for over 50 years until he retired at age 84 in 2001. He was a beloved husband, father, grand-father and great grandfather. Until his health began to decline, he was an active member of the Lexington Avenue Baptist Church. He will be missed and remembered by his loving and devoted wife of 64 years, Doris Myers Moring, his three children, Thomas Bickett Morning and wife Cotten, of Greensboro, Carolyn Fisinessi and husband Claudio of Tampa, Fl, Lynne Davis and husband Dwight, of Pittsboro, five grandchildren, Ashley Voss (Jason) of Greensboro, Emily Buckland (Jason) Greensboro, Sara Davis of Raleigh, Lauren Gordon (Miles) of Greensboro, Dwight Davis IV of Raleigh and one great grandson, Jack Buckland. Funeral services for Mr. Moring will be held Friday, 11:00 am at Sechrest Chapel, High Point, NC with Pastor Chris Thore officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 pm on Thursday, December 8th at Sechrest Funeral Services.The family wishes to express their gratitude and appreciation to the staff of Taylor Village at Pennybyrn for their kind and loving care.
