
Caroline Virginia Goodman, age 75, of River Landing at Sandy Ridge, Colfax, passed from this life to the church triumphant on Saturday, January 5, 2011 at River Landing at Sandy Ridge. Her family and compassionate River Landing staff members surrounded her with love and support as she began her journey.
Caroline grew up in Churchville, VA, and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Flora Macdonald (St Andrews Presbyterian) College in Red Springs, NC. She served as Director of Christian Education at several Presbyterian Churches, including churches in Hamlet and Charlotte, NC and in Atlanta, GA. Subsequently, she taught elementary school in Atlanta before returning to Charlotte where she held several administrative positions, the last of which was at Myers Park United Methodist Church.
Caroline had a passion for music and loved to sing. For many years, she sang with the Oratorio Singers of Charlotte as well as with the choir of Covenant Presbyterian Church. She also treasured spending time with her great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, the Reverend Frank L. and Edna Earle Goodman. Survivors include sister Sarah Glover and her husband Art; brother, the Reverend Dr. John Goodman and his wife Tee; nieces, Mary Glover Fraley and her husband Steve, and Katie Goodman Le and her husband Quoc; nephews, Hamilton Goodman and his wife Brenda, and Chris Glover and his wife April; great nieces and nephews, Jessica, Drew, Kyndal, Carter, Megan and Brianna.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 am at First Presbyterian Church of High Point with Dr. Ken Broman-Fulks officiating. A time for visitation will follow the service. A private entombment will take place at the First Presbyterian Church Columbarium. Main St., High Point, NC 27262, or to the charity of one’s choice.
