

Mr. Brown was born in Troutman, NC in Iredell County on February 8, 1919 to Mason Edgar and Annie Waugh Brown. He graduated from High Point High School in 1936 and attended High Point College. Mr. Brown served his country in the U.S. Marines from 1941 to 1946. He was a self- employed accountant, having worked with High Point Sprinkler Co. and J. R. Graham and Son until he retired in 1984.
Mr. Brown was a member of the High Point Civitans with forty six years of perfect attendance. He served three terms as Lt. Governor and three terms as President. He was also a member of First United Methodist Church since 1944 and a member of the Pickett Bible Class and The Family Fellowship Class. Mr. Brown previously served as Church Treasurer, a member of the Administrative Board, and a member of the U. M.M. at the church.
On June 25, 1944 he married Mildred Katherine Free who preceded him in death on June 4, 2010. He was also preceded in death by his parents and by sisters, Catherine Garner, Mildred Caldwell and a brother, Mason E. Brown, Jr.
Surviving are his sister, Annie Louise Clark of Excelsior Springs, MO. and six nieces and nephews of whom Barry and Lillian Johnson of Kansas City, MO were his close caregivers.
Funeral Service for Mr. Brown will be conducted Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in the Holy Family Chapel of First United Methodist Church by the Reverend Dr. Chris Fitzgerald. Interment will follow in Oakwood Memorial Park Cemetery. There will be a visitation held Friday from 6:00 until 7:30 p.m. at Sechrest Funeral Service in High Point.
