Colfax - Frances Josephine (Jo) Ingram Goldston, a longtime resident of River Landing at Sandy Ridge, died peacefully on Monday February 11, 2019. She was 94, and was one of the sassiest, toughest, and kindest people you'd ever meet.
Her life was full of family—siblings, husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren—and she loved us all fiercely and with tremendous joy. She always had a batch of her signature brownies in the freezer and a bottle of champagne chilling in the refrigerator just in case there was something to celebrate.
She was an avid and sharp-eyed bird-watcher around the world and in her own backyard. She loved playing the xylopipes, saw blades, and bottles in the Presbyterian Home Band. And she willingly became an expert painter, tile installer, carpenter, and wallpaper hanger when she moved to Lake Tillery, NC and built a retirement home together with her husband of 61 years, Grady Goldston, her first-grade sweetheart and the love of her life.
Jo was born November 27, 1924 in High Point, NC to Fred Perry Ingram and Clare Case Ingram and five older brothers and sisters: Casey, Bud, Eloise, Hal, and Lawson Ingram. She is survived by her brother Lawson, along with her children, Beth Barnwell (Jack), Joe Goldston (Sharon), and Tom Goldston (Diane), 10 grandchildren, and 5 great-granddaughters.
A celebration of her life will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday February 16, 2019 in the multi-purpose room at River Landing at Sandy Ridge, 1575 John Knox Drive Colfax, NC. There will be a reception following the service in the same location.
Our family wishes to thank the staff at River Landing as well as her special caregivers Debra Chambliss and Madeline Hardy for their devoted care.
In lieu of flowers we ask that those wishing to honor her life make a donation to the River Landing Employee Scholarship Fund or another charity of their choice.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.SechrestFunerals.com for the Goldston family.
