

A resident of this area all of her life, Hazel was born on February 1, 1931 in High Point to the late Clayton and Sadie Johnson Jones. Hazel was much loved and revered by her friends and family. Hazel was a graduate of Allen Jay High School and King’s Business College in Greensboro.
Hazel served the Guilford County School System for most of her career, which was spent at Allen Jay Middle School and Lucy C. Ragsdale High School as school treasurer. She was also a long-time member of Fairfield United Methodist Church in High Point.
Hazel was a dedicated care-giver and spent her life serving her community and her family. Hazel was a selfless individual who spent much of her time helping others. Many individuals’ lives have been touched by Hazel’s love and commitment to them.
She leaves behind a beloved son, Steve Gilbreth and his wife Susan of Greensboro and daughter, Joan Mabes Cameron and her husband John of Eden; six grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 5:30 pm Tuesday July 30th in the chapel of Sechrest Funeral Service, 1301 E. Lexington Ave., High Point with Rev. Jill Auman officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the Sechrest Parlor. A private family graveside service will be held Wednesday in the Fairfield United Methodist Church Cemetery.
