James L. Horne

Mr. Horne was born April 9, 1921 in Chesterfield County, SC to Benjamin and Annie Steen Horne. He served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army in North Africa and the Italian Campaign in the 85th Infantry Division. Mr. Horne was former personnel director for Indian Head Hosiery and later maintenance supervisor for Tomlinson Furniture Company. He was a former member of Brentwood Presbyterian Church and presently a member of First Presbyterian Church, High Point. On March 15, 1942 he married Frances Gaddy, who preceded him in death on Dec. 30, 1997. He was also preceded in death by his parents and his three brothers and three sisters.

Surviving are his daughter; Nancy Grenon of High Point, grandson James P. Grenon and wife Sarah of Greensboro and great granddaughter Emily Elizabeth Grenon. Mr. Horne is also survived by his sister, Evie Lee Jenkins of Kannapolis and a special niece, Dean Peacock of High Point.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. in Sechrest Funeral Chapel in High Point by the Reverend Dr. Chris Hardy. Interment with military honors will follow in Floral Garden Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service.
