He was born on January 18, 1948, in High Point to the late Floyd and Norma Shoemake.
James was a life-long resident of High Point and was of the Baptist faith. He worked and retired from Rose Furniture. James enjoyed riding motorcycles with his friends. Most of all, he loved his family, and his grandchildren were his life.
He is survived by his wife, Dianne Shoemake; daughters, Tammy Baxter and Lora Shoemake; grandchildren; James, Summer, Jamie and Autumn; sisters, Kathy Zienert and Susan Shoemake; several nieces and nephews and many treasured friends.
A funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Sunday, February 11, at Sechrest Funeral Service of High Point, with interment to follow at Guilford Memorial Park in Greensboro. The family will receive friends from 5 PM until 7 PM on Saturday, February 10, at Sechrest Funeral Service of High Point.
