

He was born on December 20, 1954, in Astoria, NY, the son of the late John Joseph Robbins and Louise Ruth Williams Robbins. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by an aunt Virginia Williams.
John was most proud of his service in the US Navy where he served on the USS Sturgeon-SSN 637. His military service followed in the footsteps of his father and uncle both of whom were veterans of World War II.
He attended Guilford Technical Community College and worked for many years as a HVAC Technician. He was also involved in many aspects of church work having served as a minister, choir director, youth leader and Sunday School teacher.
On August 28, 1983, John married the former Linda Stowell who survives of the home. Also surviving are his sons John W. Robbins (Alicia) and James P. Robbins; his granddaughter Paisley Lynn Robbins; his sister Ginny Hunt (Richard); his aunts Selma Williams and Elisabeth Magnenat; his nephews Michael Lovaglio and Thomas Lovaglio; his nieces Yvonne Bauer (Mark) and Alexandra Powell; grand-nieces Emma Lovaglio and Sofia Lovaglio; grand-nephew Thomas Lovaglio; his cousin Christine Bellucci (Daniel); his mother-in-law Billie Stowell; and his sisters-in-law Elizabeth Swindler (Terry) and Susan Powell.
A funeral service for John will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, April 9, 2016, in the Chapel of Sechrest Funeral Service, 1301 E. Lexington Ave. in High Point, officiated by the Evangelist Carey Johnson. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, April 8, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00PM.
