Judy La-Vaughn Poore Elliott

Judy was born on May 17, 1949 in Kentucky to the late Mason and Opal Poore. For many years, she had worked in embroidery and later in insurance. She especially enjoyed spending time with her friends and family. Judy was also a member of Gospel Light Baptist Church in Walkertown and attended Trulite Baptist Church in High Point.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husbands, James Berry, Sr. and Paul “Fran” Elliott, sister, Faye Marsh, and brother, Eddie Poore.

Surviving are her sons, James “Jimmy” Berry and wife Angie of High Point, Jeff Berry and wife Josefina of Cleveland, TX, and Jason Berry and wife Sandra of Randleman; fourteen grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Libby Tripp and Sheila Bowers and two brothers, Mason Poore, Jr. and Donald Poore.

A funeral service will be held at 2 pm Thursday at Gospel Light Baptist Church, 890 Walkertown-Guthrie Road, Winston-Salem with Rev. Bobby Roberson and Jerry Whiteheart officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory in Walkertown. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
