

Mrs. Louise Bell Moffitt, widow of H. A. “Chigger” Moffitt, died November 6, 2015. She was born April 13, 1915, in Mooresville, N.C. to the late Dr. Andrew E. Bell and Lilla Mann Bell and was educated in the Mooresville Public Schools and graduated from Woman's College (UNC-G). She taught for 30 years in the High Point School System starting as a first grade teacher in 1937 at Ray Street School and The Little Red School House. Since there was no kindergarten at that time, “Miss Bell” was the first introduction to a child’s education, and her passion was the children.
She was a long time member of the First United Methodist church in High Point. She was also a member of the NC Society Colonial Dames, Daughter of the Confederacy, Virginia Dare Chapter of American Colonists, and several state education associations.
In addition to her parents and her husband Chigger Moffitt, Louise was predeceased by her daughter Sally Moffitt, her sisters Mary Parks Weathers of Winston-Salem and Lilla Winstead of Rocky Mount, NC, and her brother Dr. Ralph M. Bell of Charlotte.
She is survived by her son Hugh Moffitt of Greensboro, her devoted daughter-in-law Kathy Jennings Moffitt, her granddaughters Kelly M. (Jeff) Adkisson of Charlotte, Lauren M. (Chip) Edwards of Atlanta, and Leigh M. (Ricky) Smith of Charlotte, two great grandsons Luke Adkisson and Ford Smith, her sisters Helen Rankin of Gastonia and Eleanor Alexander of Asheboro, her sister-in-law Mary Ann Bell of Charlotte, and seven nieces and nephews.
Her life will be celebrated on Friday, November 13, 2015 at 11:00 am at First United Methodist Church of High Point, 512 North Main Street.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm until7:00 pm, Thursday, November 12, 2015 at Sechrest Funeral Service, 1301 East Lexington.
