

Mrs. Cottingham was born in Robeson county on August 27, 1921 to Angus Kemper and Lucille Dickens Martin. She had been a resident of High Point most of her life and was a homemaker and also worked at Sweet Shoppe Bakery. Mrs. Cottingham was a member of First Presbyterian Church where she was a member of the Women’s Circle and also taught children in the Sunday School. She was also a volunteer to Meals on Wheels. She had been a resident of River Landing for the past few years and will be remembered for her pleasant nature and loving spirit. On April 8, 1944 she married Jack Cottingham who preceded her in death in 2008. Also preceding her in death was her brother, Bobby Martin of Delaware.
Surviving are her children; Jane Cottingham and her husband John Norris of Durham, John Cottingham and wife Kaye of Archdale, and Charles Cottingham and wife Lisa of Maryland. Mrs. Cottingham has one sister, Elizabeth Greene of Winston Salem and four grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and two great- great grandchildren.
A Memorial service will be held Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. in First Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Dr. Kenneth Broman-Fulks and the Reverend Dr. Jim Wilson officiating. Inurnment in the church columbarium will be private. There will be a time of visitation with the family at the church following the service. The family requests that any memorials be directed to the River Landing Foundation, 1575 John Knox Drive, Colfax, N.C. 27235.
