

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 22, 2011 at First Presbyterian Church, by Dr. Jim Wilson.
Mr. Rowland was born September 30, 1924, in High Point, son of Marion Cruzer Rowland and Mabel Ivey Rowland. He attended the University of Oklahoma and after an honorable discharge from the United States Army graduated from High Point College. Mr. Rowland was a veteran of World War II, serving in the European theater. Before founding Rowland Woodworking Inc. in 1992 with sons, Marion C. “Rusty” Rowland III and Richard K. Rowland, Mr. Rowland worked for Snow Lumber Company. In addition to being an avid woodworker, he enjoyed saltwater fishing and duck hunting. Mr. Rowland was also a past board member of the Salvation Army, a member of the Kiwanis Club, and a Deacon and Elder at First Presbyterian Church in High Point.
Mr. Rowland is preceded in death by his parents and a son, Rusty Rowland. Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Jean Graham Rowland; his children, Amanda R. Magill and husband, Orrin, Susan R. Hayes, and Richard K. Rowland, all of High Point; daughter-in-law, Phyllis G. Rowland; and grandchildren, Graham Magill, Elizabeth Magill, Catherine Magill, Sam Magill, Jamie Hayes, and Josh Hayes.
Visitation will immediately follow the memorial service in the Family Life Center at First Presbyterian Church, 918 North Main St.
