Mary was born in Denmark, SC, November 26, 1930, a daughter of the late Willie Jeffords and Verlie Adell Hightower Jeffords. She was credit manager for Silver Craft Furniture and Tobias, Inc. prior to retiring in 1981. Mary Jane was a member of Green Street Baptist Church and the Cornette Sunday School Class. She was a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Elks Lodge #1155. Mary Jane was always ready to help someone in need, particularly senior citizens and people with health problems. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Sears, her son, Tommy Sears and a brother, Billy Jeffords.
Surviving are four grandsons, Charlie, Will, Levi and Joey Sears and eight nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Mary Jane's life will be held Thursday, August 1, 2024 at 2 p.m. in the Sechrest-Davis Funeral Home Chapel Rev. Mark Loy. Burial will follow in Floral Garden Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday for 1 until 2 p.m. Memorials may be directed to the National Elks Foundation.
