She was born March 15, 1930 in Bon Secour, Alabama to the late Mary and Jake Stewart. Nancy majored in Psychology at Case Western Reserve in Cleveland, Ohio and earned a Bachelor of Science in Education from Millersville State University in Pennsylvania with a Post Graduate Certificate in Special Education.
She married Joe (Zluchowski) Skee on June 9, 1951 at Aberdeen Proving Ground in Maryland. There she worked as a secretary for a colonel. Upon Private Skee’s promotion to lieutenant, they were transferred to Defense of the City of Pittsburgh. One of her husband’s career moves included Ohio, where she served as President of the Catholic Women’s Club in the Diocese of Steubenville. Next was a move to Pennsylvania, where she worked as a private reading tutor and special education teacher at the public high school. She also learned Spanish while living with her family in Puerto Rico for three years.
She served in various capacities throughout her life. She was also a social worker with the developmentally challenged in Pennsylvania and North Carolina. Nancy served as Coordinator of Religious Education at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in High Point. She remained an active volunteer within numerous ministries. However, the raising and nurturing of her family was always her main vocation, because God “assigned the job to me when He made me mother of seven”.
In addition to her loving husband, she is survived by seven wonderful children, Frank Skee and wife Ada of High Point, John Skee and wife Colleen of Stuart, Florida, Ceanne Fausel and husband Greg of New Philadelphia, Ohio, Terry Skee and wife JoAnn of Tampa, Florida, Henry (Hank) Skee of Lexington, Mary Jo Driskill and husband Jay of Wabash, Indiana, and Wendele Mealy and husband Greg of Wabash, Indiana; seventeen grandchildren, Graham Skee, Aimee Skee, Jordan Fausel, Joe Skee, Kyle-Anne Vierheller, Collin Snider, Jacqui Hostetler, Mason Skee, Ben Skee, Kristin Golden, Karlyn Fausel, Christopher Venezia, Nick Driskill, Michael Venezia, Ashley Venezia, Bryn Mealy, Gabriel Mealy, Rowyn Mealy; seventeen great-grandchildren.
