

Mr. Norman Scott Peatross of the Bill Ervin UMAR Home in High Point Died March 29, 2012. He was born August 21, 1940 in High Point , NC. He was the son of the late William Thomas Peatross and Dorothy Ray Peatross.
Early in his life he went to work with his dad who was a building contractor. Later he worked at LifeSpan until he retired to the Adult Center for Enrichment program at River Landing. He was an active participant in the Special Olympics winning several metals especially in bocce ball. He also liked to attend Camp Tekoa and he enjoyed swimming, dancing, playing softball, and singing with the Heart and Soul singers. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in High Point and the Bland Sunday School Class.
Mr. Peatross is survived by his sister, Patsy Ray Koontz and her husband Jerry, his aunt, Mary Kirby and her husband Bill, his uncle Bill Ray and his wife Dorothy, his nephew Ted Koontz and his wife Mitzi and their daughter, Mya, his niece Mary Gillis and her husband Jonathan and their daughters, Hannah, Salem, Charlotte, and Palah, his cousins, Eddie Peatross, Carolyn Mishoe and husband Terry, Wayne Tuttle and wife Susan, and his “brothers” at the UMAR Home Billy Ervin, David Carvar, Thomas Littlejohn, and Mark Jenkins.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at 2:30 in the sanctuary of the First United Methodist Church, 512 N. Main St. High Point. The family will be available in the Parlor of the Church from 2:00 to receive friends. Reverend Chris Fitzgerald and Reverend Fran Moran will officiate the service with music by Bob Phillips and Jill Willis. The family thanks UMAR, especially devoted Dorothy Spencer, the members of the First United Methodist Church, the wonderful staff at Hospice and the many others who have had a positive influence on Norman’s life.
