

Patsy Bayne Whaley, 81, loving mother and grandmother, went to be with our Lord Monday, June 23, 2014 at the Hospice Home of High Point following six weeks of declining health. Mrs. Whaley was born in Thomasville, November 17, 1932, a daughter of the late Raymond G. Bayne and Thelma Sykes Bayne. She retired from Silver Knit/Sara Lee after more than 20 years of service. Patsy then worked at Stein Mart for several years until she moved to Pawleys Island, SC. She was a member of Conrad Memorial Baptist Church in High Point, as well as, First Baptist Church in Georgetown, SC. Patsy was preceded in death by her husband, Durant (Dink) Whaley, a daughter, Lisa Ann Whaley; a grandson, Wesley Powell; a sister, Marie Blair and a brother, Howard Bayne. Surviving are three daughters, Cindy Petry and husband Daniel of Pawleys Island, SC, Paige Whaley Smith and husband George of Thomasville and Penny Whaley of High Point; three grandchildren, Victoria Harden and husband Raymond of High Point, Matthew Desrosiers and wife Brentley of Surfside Beach, SC and Andrew Powell of Thomasville; three great-grandchildren, Jason and Wesley Powell and Madison Harden; two brothers, Jim Bayne and wife Pat of High Point and Robert Bayne and wife Glenda of TN; and several nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Patsy’s Life will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in the Conrad Memorial Baptist Church by the Rev. Marcus Campbell and the Rev. Bob Hiatt. Burial will follow in Floral Garden Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Davis Funerals and Cremations Thursday from 6 until 8 p.m. and at other times the home of Victoria Harden, 1244 Scarlett Dr., High Point. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of the Piedmont or Conrad Memorial Baptist Church.
