Roberto Felix Perez

Archdale - Roberto Felix Perez, 88, passed away on August 15, 2018 from diabetes complications. His steadfast Catholic faith gave him strength and peace as he was surrounded by his family and the caring staff of Pennybyrn at Maryfield.

Roberto was born in Los Mochis, Sinaloa, Mexico on July 6, 1930 to Roberto Perez and Adela Felix Perez. He was predeceased by his brothers Manuel Perez, Francisco Perez, and Enrique Perez, and by his sisters, Estella Perez and Rosa Maria Salcido. He is survived by his sisters Enna Berson and Laura Gonzalez. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Leonor Perez, Maria Antonietta Perez, and Dinora Perez.

In 1967, he married Mary Etta McCoury, who survives him, at Saint Lucien Catholic Church in Spruce Pine, NC. Roberto and Mary celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary in March. He is predeceased by his brothers-in-law Tommy McCoury, T.Y. McCoury, Eddie McCoury, Jr., and David McCoury, and by his sisters-in-law Barbara Ward, Bertha Young, Shelia Perry, and Colleen Martincak. He is survived by his sister-in-law Rosa King.

Roberto was a loving father to two surviving daughters, Anna Perez Chason and Rosa Perez Beam. He is survived by his sons-in-law, Eric Chason and Steve Beam. He was adored by his surviving grandchildren Mary Catherine Chason, Elizabeth Rose Chason, Tim Jones, Jennifer Hicks, David Beam, and Dustin Beam, and great-grandchildren Christian Hicks and Archer Beam.

Roberto was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. He was a fourth-degree member of the Knights of Columbus and an Army veteran. He volunteered as a Spanish interpreter and delivered Meals on Wheels.

The family will receive visitors at Immaculate Heart of Mary at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, August 20. A memorial Mass will follow immediately at 2:00 p.m. in the Church. Interment will be at McCoury Rock Church in Avery County. The family gratefully declines flowers, but donations may be made to Pennybyrn at Maryfield, 109 Penny Road, High Point, NC 27260, or Hospice of the Piedmont, 1801 Westchester Drive High Point, NC 27262.
