Sharon Lee "Sherry" Hester

Sherry was born September 3, 1935 in Burbank, California, a daughter of the late Donald and Kay Gilbert.

She attended Burbank High School and Riverside College in California. Sherry worked as secretary at ABC, Disney & Warner Brothers studios in Hollywood, CA and then was a flight attendant with American Airlines.

Sherry enjoyed travelling the world with her husband, Jerry. She enjoyed gardening, and spending time with her family and friends. Sherry had a positive attitude, a radiant smile and endeavored for excellence in everything she did. She was a faithful Christian and loved Biblical history and a faithful member of Old Town Baptist Church in Winston Salem. She was preceded in death by her brother, Dallas Gilbert.

Surviving are her husband of 52 years, Jerry Hester; six step-children, Vicki Vanderburg (Garry), Marshall Hester (Rachel), Dawn Moffitt (Kermit), Richard Hester (Lori), Camilla Rocco (John) and Stuart Hester; 18 step-grandchildren and 7 step-great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Sherry's life will be held Friday, February 18, 2022 at 1 p.m. in the Sechrest-Davis Chapel by Dr. Rick Speas and Dr. Robert Steele. Burial will follow in Floral Garden Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 12 until 1 p.m.
