Tim was born October 17, 1972, the son of Harold Eugene and Janet Smith Hughes. He was a graduate from UNCG of Greensboro in 1995. After college, Tim's heart was full of desire to become a missionary. God first led him to Kiev and after much prayer, Tim joined Open Door Ministries where he went to China for 7 years distributing bibles and working with Brother Andrew to spread the gospel of Christ.
When SARS hit China, Tim made his journey back to the United States. He worked in Washington, DC for the government for several years, and resided there for 12 years. When his health took a turn for the worst, he made a decision to come home to North Carolina. Uncle "Timbo" was the greatest and coolest uncle ever to his nieces. He was the best brother who made his sister laugh out loud, and had a close relationship with his brother-in-law whom he admired and loved. Tim was grateful for family and friends especially his Aunt Betty. He was a devoted son who loved and honored his mother. Tim left this earth too early to go to his Heavenly home but will be missed everyday until we see him again. Tim was preceded in death by father, Harold Eugene Hughes.
Tim is survived by his mother, Janet Smith Hughes, one sister, Kimbal (Cliff) Bean, and two nieces, Haylea and Molly Bean.
A private memorial service will be held.
