

A resident of this area all of his life, Wayne was born on October 17, 1948 in Guilford County to the late William Lionell and Ruth Hedgecock Jones. Wayne proudly served his country in the US Army, serving as a medic at Womack Army Hospital. He later worked for Union Camp Corporation and Life of Virginia. He was also a member of Highland United Methodist Church where he taught Sunday School. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister, Wilma Ryman and brother, Donald Jones. Wayne was a kind and loving man who loved to be with his family and friends.
Surviving are his loving wife, Connie Ryals Jones of the home; sisters, Billie Wheeler (Phillip), Gloria Wall (Lawrence), Joyce Williams, Jean Coley (Tom), and Brenda Glisson and Sharon Beasley; numerous nieces and nephews and his cat, L’il BIt.
A celebration of Wayne’s life will be held at Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Davis Funerals and Cremations Chapel by Rev. Jeff Sypole. Interment will follow in Floral Garden Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
