
William Reeve Gorman, formerly of 402 E. Farriss Avenue, died on April 17, 2015, at High Point Regional Hospital in High Point, NC. Mr. Gorman was born to Charles and Pearl Reeve on September 18, 1922 in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
In 1948 he graduated from N.C. State University with a degree in mechanical engineering. He was owner and president of Redman Associates, Inc. for over forty years. Mr. Gorman served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Army Air Corps in WWII, flying 17 combat missions as a bombardier with the 454th Heavy Bombardment Group, 15th Air Force. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart and was a Captain in the U.S. Air Force Reserve.
He was married to Ramona "Posy" Redman from 1945 until her death in 1984. He is survived by four children, Terry Walters of Summerville, SC; Steve Gorman and his wife Pam of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; Joan White and her husband Tom of High Point; Amy Mincey and her husband Russ of Cary, NC. He is survived by six grandchildren, Jeff Walters, Greg Walters and wife Kim, Tom Gorman, Kim Berdet and husband Josh, Ellen Mincey and Luke Mincey; and three great-grandchildren. In 1986 he married Suzanne Ripley who preceded him in death in 2011, and he is survived by four stepchildren.
A lifelong Episcopalian, he was a member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church where he served on the vestry and was a former and founding member of St. Christopher's Episcopal Church. Mr. Gorman was an active member of the community. He was a longtime treasurer of Friends of the High Point Public Library. He was also a commissioner and chairman of the Parks and Recreation Commission and was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. For over fifty years he was a member of Toastmasters International where he served in various leadership capacities. T

Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 20, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Mary's Episcopal Church in High Point, NC. At 1:00 p.m. the family will receive visitors in the parish hall of the church.
