Jamestown - William MacDonald Neville, age 66, of Jamestown, North Carolina passed away on Sunday January 20, 2019. William was born December 18, 1952 in Sanford, North Carolina to the late Janet MacDonald Neville and William Stroud Neville.
Known by his family as Billy Mac, his idyllic life in Sanford changed when the family moved to Raleigh in May, 1961. It was a rough transition for Bill, but there his interest in comic books became a lifelong passion. Eventually his artistic talent led him to do artwork for Marvel and Disney Studios.
In his early days at UNC Chapel Hill he helped to start the first campus radio station WCAR and then worked as a DJ in Golden Meadow, Louisiana and Greensboro, NC. After he got his degree in Commercial Art he worked at several advertising agencies, The Greensboro News & Record and Carson Dellosa Publishing. He and his very good friend, Terry Collins, self-published the Illustrated Andy Griffith Story in 1995.
He is survived by his wife Tara, they were together for 35 years; and his much loved sister Nancy Freeman and her husband Scott Freeman.
