Darrol was born on October 8, 1941, in Clinton, Indiana, to Ernest and Pearl Spurgeon. Darrol is survived by his wife of 58 years, Betty Lu, sons Robert (Stacey) and Roger (Kimberly), grandchildren Mary and Ruby, and sister Darlene.
Darrol graduated from Rose Hulman Institute of Technology (Terre Haute, IN) and Chrysler Institute (Detroit, MI) as a Mechanical Engineer and employed his skills at Chrysler Corporation (Detroit, MI) and the US Army Tank Automotive Command (Warren, MI).
Darrol and Betty Lu especially loved owning and driving classic Corvettes. A lifelong snow and water skier, Darrol also enjoyed being a member of the Worthington Country Club men’s bocce team and playing duplicate bridge with his friends.
Burial will be at Bono Cemetery, near Darrol’s childhood home of Dana, Indiana. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the student scholarship fund at Rose Hulman Institute of Technology ( http://www.rose-hulman.edu/memorials ).
